How to Debug Outdoor LED Advertising Screen

With the rapid development of information technology, LED display screens stand out as an outdoor advertising medium and are widely used in shopping malls, squares, prime commercial streets, landmark buildings, and many other public places, becoming an irreplaceable media communication tool. An LED display screen is composed of numerous components and materials, such as LED lamps, ICs, resistors, capacitors, PCBs, switch power supplies, control systems, cable materials, and plastic parts. Each of these components has its own safe service life. Therefore, to reduce the probability of failure, ensure safe operation, and extend the service life of the LED display screen, it is essential to perform maintenance and care.

The LED display screen is essentially composed of six major parts: module boxes, control systems, power distribution systems, steel structures, fiber optics (network cables), and computer hosts.

LED display screens are installed and used in two environments: indoor and outdoor. The common specifications for outdoor screens currently are P10, P8, P6, P5, P4, P3, etc.

Outdoor LED display screens have higher environmental requirements: firstly, they must ensure waterproof and dustproof capabilities, reaching an IP65 protection level; the brightness of outdoor screens must meet the needs of the environment, generally not less than 5000 nits, and if installed facing north to south, the brightness requirements are even higher; outdoor screens also have environmental temperature requirements, usually requiring the installation of air conditioning or fans within the screen body to ensure the temperature remains within the normal range.

Common Outdoor LED Display Screen Failures

A. Module Failures

LED lamps fail, ICs (column driver ICs, row driver ICs, buffer amplification ICs, decoding ICs) fail, and PCB circuit issues, etc.

Handling Method: Replace the failed components (LED lamps, ICs) and repair the PCB circuits.

B. Electrical Failures

The failure of switch power supplies within the screen body, aging and loosening of power wiring terminals, loose connectors, aging and failure of switch devices in the distribution cabinet, etc.

Handling Method: Replace the switch power supplies, power terminals, connectors, and devices in the distribution cabinet.

C. Connection Issues

Damaged network cables, loose network cable plugs with poor contact, damaged receiving cards, etc.
Handling Method: Replace the network cables and cable heads; replace the receiving cards.

D. Environmental Damage

Severe weather can also affect the display screen, such as heavy rain and typhoons causing water to enter the inside of the screen, leading to oxidation and short circuits that cause failures.

Handling Method: Clean up the water and dry it.
