The show is over, and the crew is loading an LED wall into flight cases for the next venue. A knock to the display face can leave damaged or detached LEDs that have to be found and repaired before the cabinets go out again. For a rental company, the cost includes labor, spare parts and equipment that may be unavailable for the next job.
That is why LED push force belongs in a rental LED display evaluation. It provides a way to assess one aspect of LED package attachment. To judge real-world durability, buyers also need to examine cabinet protection, service access and the conditions behind any test result.

What LED Push Force Measures
LED push force is the lateral force a surface-mounted LED package withstands under a defined test before a specified failure occurs. A test tool pushes against the package while the printed circuit board is held in place. The result helps assess the mechanical strength of the package-to-board assembly, including its soldered connection. The report should also identify how the sample failed, such as at the solder joint, pad or package.
Results may be stated in newtons or kilogram-force. A number without its unit, test method, package type and failure criterion says little about another product. Push force is a component-level measure. Handling resistance across a complete LED cabinet also depends on the mask, exposed edges, frame, transport case and crew procedures.
Why Push Force Matters Across Rental Cycles
Rental cabinets are repeatedly packed, transported, lifted, locked together and dismantled. Their LED faces and edges are exposed to incidental contact during those steps. A detached package can produce a visible defect and trigger inspection, rework or a last-minute module or cabinet swap.
Under comparable test conditions, a stronger package attachment can reduce one route to LED damage. It does not establish a cabinet’s impact rating or guarantee a longer service life. For a rental operator, the practical question is whether the entire design helps keep inventory available between shows.
How to Evaluate a Push Force Claim
Ask for the test report for the exact module and LED package being quoted. Useful details include the direction and speed of the applied force, tool position, sample size, measured range and failure modes. Check whether the protective mask was fitted and whether the samples represent the current production configuration. Compare figures only when the methods and assemblies are sufficiently alike.
Then handle a sample cabinet as the crew would: lift it, connect adjacent units, protect the corners during packing and replace a module. This reveals risks that a package test cannot measure. A rental LED screen should be assessed as a serviceable system, not as a single laboratory result.
How Dicolor Rental Designs Address Handling
Dicolor’s rental platforms illustrate different ways to protect the display face and keep cabinets serviceable. Package construction varies by model and configuration, so request the specification and test data for the exact product under consideration.

D V2 Series Package and Surface Protection
For D V2 configurations offered with IMD 2-in-1, Dicolor describes a protective mask, D-Shield surface protection and a D-SMT process that covers pad design and soldering parameters. It also states that D V2 modules undergo sampled push-force checks before shipment. These measures address LED attachment and surface exposure, while the platform’s cabinet options and mixed configurations support different event layouts.

AF V3 Series Setup and Corner Protection
On AF V3 cabinets, automatic retractable corner protectors help shield LEDs and masks during setup and transport. One-handed operation and modular front and rear service access support fast assembly and repair. Those cabinet features complement any package-level protection specified for the selected model; they do not substitute for its push-force test data.

US Series Curved Modules and Protected Edges
The US series uses bendable modules and curved cabinet structures for concave, convex, circular and S-shaped stage displays. Corner protection matters here because crews repeatedly adjust and connect cabinets to create the intended shape. The curved structure determines the form; the LED surface still needs protection during handling and assembly.
UL Series Lightweight Handling and Service Access
UL combines a magnesium-alloy cabinet with edge protection, a detachable power supply unit and replaceable modules. Lower handling weight can ease transport and setup, while accessible parts help crews deal with faults. Its listed cabinet features should be evaluated alongside the LED package and push-force data for the exact UL configuration offered.

Compare the Full Cost of Rental Ownership
Purchase price is only one part of a rental LED display decision. Track damage incidents, repair labor, spare parts, cabinet swaps and time out of service across similar workloads. When comparing products, ask where accidental contact is most likely, how easily modules and power supplies can be replaced, and whether the cabinet design fits your crew’s normal setup method.
LED push force is useful when the test conditions are clear and the result is considered with edge protection and serviceability. For touring, live events and creative stages, ask Dicolor to demonstrate the AF V3, D V2, US or UL configuration that matches your application and provide current model-level test documentation.
